AI promises to dramatically reduce the time sustainability teams spend on data, analysis, disclosure and reporting. But that raises a much more consequential question:
What happens to the capacity it releases?
Does it allow sustainability functions to shift from measurement to implementation? Does it enable teams to tackle work that has remained chronically under-resourced? Or will productivity gains instead translate into higher expectations, smaller teams and tighter budgets?
Taking place as part of Climate Week NYC, this closed-door roundtable will bring sustainability leaders together to explore where their teams’ capacity really goes today, what actually prevents faster sustainability implementation, where AI is already changing the function, and how the sustainability organisation could evolve as AI takes on more reporting and analytical work.
This event is being hosted as part of a research project at the University of Oxford. The project is funded by Unravel Carbon, an agentic platform for business sustainability. The roundtable is hosted under Chatham House Rule, which means that notes will be taken of the meeting, but will not be attributable to the speaker or their organisation. Registration is subject to approval by the hosts.
