Siddharth Shekhar Yadav is the Serviced Emissions Research and Engagement Manager at Oxford Net Zero, where he leads engagement with professional services firms including law firms, consultancies, and advertising agencies. He works to strengthen net zero integrity and translate academic research on net zero into guidance for corporations, civil society, policymakers, and the standards community to reach global net zero by 2050.
Before joining the University of Oxford, Siddharth served as a diplomat at the United Nations headquarters in New York. He was the Advisor (Climate Change and Ocean Affairs) to the UN Ambassador at the Permanent Mission of the Republic of Vanuatu to the UN. He managed diplomatic relations with UN Member States and coordinated engagement with UN Agencies, civil society, NGOs, and academia. He represented Vanuatu in intergovernmental processes on sustainable development across the UN system, the UN General Assembly and Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), as well as multilateral negotiations including the UN Ocean (BBNJ/ High Seas) Treaty, High-Level Political Forum (HLPF), UNFCCC and Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD), championing the sustainable development priorities of Small Island Developing States (SIDS).
Notably, he was Vanuatu’s lead negotiator at the International Seabed Authority in Jamaica, served as diplomatic advisor to Vanuatu’s Minister of Climate Change, and led the diplomatic engagement for Vanuatu’s historic UN resolution requesting an Advisory Opinion on climate change from the International Court of Justice (ICJ).
Siddharth holds a Master of Science (MSc) degree in ‘International Development: Environment, Climate Change, and Development’ and a Bachelor of Social Science degree, both from the University of Manchester, UK. He brings a strong research background, including publications in leading journals on climate and ocean policy. He is committed to advancing the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) as well as the integrity of net zero targets, with a focus on justice and equity.
