Kirsty is a postdoctoral research associate at the Smith School of Enterprise and the Environment. She has joined as part of the research unit for the State of Carbon Dioxide Removal and is currently working on compiling global estimates for CDR deployment for the 3rd Edition report.
Kirsty is a geochemist with a background in Earth Sciences, specialising in the feasibility of carbon dioxide removal (CDR) methods and the potential for CO₂ re-release post-deployment. Her DPhil research focused on Enhanced Rock Weathering (ERW) and explored the potential for CO₂ re-release in river systems. She then joined the Research Centre for Carbon Solutions at Heriot-Watt University, where she assessed the use of construction and demolition waste for CO₂ removal as part of the Greenhouse Gas Removal Demonstrator Project.
She has a DPhil in Environmental Science from the University of Oxford, and a BSc. Geology, from Birkbeck College, University of London.
