John Lang is a climate communicator, analyst and educator who co-founded and leads the Net Zero Tracker, a global initiative assessing the credibility of government and corporate climate targets. His work for the London-based Energy and Climate Intelligence Unit and the Tracker focuses on analysing and communicating climate science, policy and governance – translating complex information into clear, actionable insights for a global audience.
John’s expertise spans climate science, net zero governance, and the intersection of law, policy and communication. He has collaborated with the IPCC, ClientEarth, Oxford Net Zero, the British Standards Institution, the Net Zero Lawyers Alliance, the European Climate Foundation and other initiatives covering IPCC science, net zero governance, carbon markets and climate framework laws. His infographic on the IPCC Synthesis Report has been viewed and downloaded tens of thousands of times.
John founded Consult Climate and Kiwis in Climate, a global network of New Zealanders in climate and related fields. He holds a Master of Laws in International Law and Policy from UCL, and undergraduate degrees in Law and History from the University of Otago.
