To halve global greenhouse gas emissions by 2030 and limit global warming to 1.5°C, we need to scale climate solutions (IPCC, 2022). Climate solutions must replace and transform high-emitting products and systems, allowing human needs to be met whilst reducing the footprint of vital materials and processes our societies depend on.
Many solutions exist already, so what role do policy and regulation play in getting them to scale and decarbonise our society?
This webinar from the Net Zero Policy Network brings together experts with insights from the standard-setting, policy and business communities. Our panellists will be Kaya Axelsson, Oxford Net Zero Head of Policy and Partnerships, and Dr Alexander Schmidt, Head of Science, Sustainability & Climate Research at Normative. They will:
- Set a vision for how they’d like to see climate solutions supported by policy and regulation by end-2025
- Consider the current major barriers and opportunities for scaling climate solutions
- Share how businesses and financiers can work with regulators, policymakers, and standards-bodies to help climate solutions to work at scale.
The webinar will also host the first session of our newly founded, interactive ‘Doer’s Club’. The Club is open to all and will provide the opportunity for Net Zero Policy Network members to meet like-minded peers and work across jurisdictions to present new and consolidate existing pathways for climate action. The first meeting of the Doer’s Club will take place for 20 minutes right after the webinar.
