Bringing together leading researchers, policymakers and practitioners working on achieving climate neutrality, the meeting will take place simultaneously at four hubs – Berlin, Milan, Brussels and Oxford – linked together to create a blended event that is both in-person and virtual in nature.
The Forum will explore the current scientific and policy context in a series of thematic discussions focused on 4 key challenges: Just Transition and Climate Justice, Immediate Emissions Reduction and Addressing the last 20%, Greenhouse Removal and Nature, Climate Finance and Policy.

Through roundtable discussions it will aim to explore the challenges and opportunities in achievement of climate neutrality in Europe and globally in the context of the goals of the Paris Agreement, the statements of policy ambition to 2030 and 2050 and the implications of latest findings provided by the IPCC Working Group I report.
These challenges will be further explored in a series of 7 thematic webinars over the following 7 weeks with the outcomes being presented to the UNFCCC COP26 meeting.
With in-person participation at the four hub locations and online, this multi-hub blended meeting is also designed to showcase how international events can be conducted in a way that is consistent with a transition to a zero-emission future. We recognise the value of in-person meetings to enable the serendipity that comes from bringing people together from a range of viewpoints. Therefore, we will seek to enhance this with online networking between participants in the four locations.
This event will be co-hosted by the Mercator Research Institute on Global Commons and Climate Change (Berlin), the RFF-CMCC European Institute on Economics and the Environment (Milan) and Oxford Net Zero at the University of Oxford (Oxford).
