Dr Bettina Wittneben joined the Faculty of Saïd Business School in 2024 where she teaches leadership and transformation strategies towards sustainability. Her research generally examines how transformation is made possible, focusing on the triggers, enablers, and governance structures that bring about innovation, with a particular interest in corporate and state climate action. Her expertise includes climate mitigation and adaptation, corporate sustainability strategy, green technology transitions (especially in the energy sector and energy‑intensive industries) as well as sustainable supply chains and circular business models.

Prior to joining Oxford Saïd, Bettina was a Principal at AFRY Management Consulting, primarily advising clients in the energy sector, and she has also served as Director of the Oxford DPhil in Environmental Research and on the faculty of the Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University. She holds a PhD from the University of Cambridge’s Judge Business School, dual MBA degrees from the University of Alberta and Grenoble School of Management, and a Postgraduate Certificate in Teaching and Learning from the University of Oxford. She is widely published in management and energy journals and received the Academy of Management Journal Best Paper Award in 2016. Bettina teaches across nearly all Oxford Saïd degree programmes and on the MSc Sustainability, Enterprise and the Environment.

Bettina is an Associate Fellow in Management of Pembroke College and Teaching Associate at Oxford’s School of Geography and the Environment.
