Dr Amani Maalouf is a Senior Researcher at the University of Oxford, where she leads research on waste management and organisational change for Net Zero UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) Digital Research Infrastructure. She is Integration Lead for the NetDRIVE programme and holds positions as College Adviser at St Antony’s College and Researcher at the Oxford Net Zero programme. She also lectures in Environmental Engineering and Life Cycle Assessment.
Dr Maalouf holds a DPhil (PhD) in Environmental and Water Resources Engineering. Her research covers waste and resource management, renewable energy, and the circular economy, using approaches such as life cycle sustainability assessment, emission accounting, geospatial intelligence, spatial finance, and data-driven methods, including artificial intelligence.
With over a decade of international experience, Dr Maalouf has led and contributed to projects in more than ten countries, in collaboration with international institutions including the World Bank, UNEP, UNDP, European Investment Bank, European Commission, Lloyd’s Register Foundation, and the Royal Academy of Engineering.
Dr Maalouf has a distinguished record of publications in peer-reviewed journals, conference proceedings, and book chapters, and her expertise is recognised through frequent invitations to speak at high-level global events. She is the recipient of multiple research awards, including the Springer Nature Excellence Paper Award. She serves on the UN Environment Programme’s Climate and Clean Air Coalition Technology and Economic Assessment Panel and is widely recognised as a leading voice in global waste and resource management. Her work has been featured by major international media outlets, including Sky News, Vogue Business, The Business Reporter, and The Conversation UK, reflecting the global policy relevance of her research.
